What issue(s) does this hotfix resolve?

 

 

Etrack 2661686: Certain compressed (zip) files are not searchable

Etrack 2664242: Oracle Outside In Converters January 2012 Critical Patch Update

 

 

Etrack 2589278: The Oracle Outside In Converters October 2011 Critical Patch Update will be applied.


 

**Warning**: Whilst using the new default option will allow text files within zipped files to be converted, binary files within zipped files may also be converted and indexed. A new registry entry is provided to override the new functionality if desired. When this registry key is used, the conversion of text files in zipped files will be disabled. See installation instructions.

Installation instructions

1. Stop all Enterprise Vault services.
2. Once all services have stopped, take a backup copy of "EVConverterSandbox.exe" and "StorageRuntime.dll", locatable in the Enterprise Vault installation folder (which by default is C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault, or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault" on a 64-bit machine).
3. Make a backup copy of the <Enterprise Vault installation folder>\Converters folder.
4. Copy the updated "EVConverterSandbox.exe" and "StorageRuntime.dll", packaged in this hotfix, to the Enterprise Vault installation folder, replacing the originals.
5. Copy the files from the \Files\Converters folder packaged in this hotfix, into <Enterprise Vault installation folder>\Converters, replacing the originals.
6. OPTIONAL: To prevent the conversion of binary files in zipped files, the following DWORD registry entry should be created and set to 1:
On 64 bit versions of Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KVS\Enterprise Vault\DoNotConvertBinariesInZippedFiles
On 32 bit versions of Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\DoNotConvertBinariesInZippedFiles
7. Start all Enterprise Vault services.


Uninstallation instructions:

1. Stop all Enterprise Vault services.
2. Once all services have stopped, take the backed up copies of "EVConverterSandbox.exe", and "StorageRuntime.dll" and replace the hotfixed versions, locatable in the Enterprise Vault installation folder (which by default is C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault, or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault" on a 64-bit machine).
3. Remove the Converters folder in the Enterprise Vault installation folder.
4. Copy the backed up Converters folder into the Enterprise Vault installation folder.
5. OPTIONAL: Remove the "DoNotConvertBinariesInZippedFiles" registry entry if it was created during installation (or set it to 0).
6. Start all Enterprise Vault services.
