Symantec Protection Center 2 (SPC) - Error when attempting to re-integrate a previously associated product with a new SPC appliance

Problem
After integrating PGP with an SPC 2 server, the SPC appliance is replaced with a newly installed appliance, and re-integration with the PGP Universal Server is attempted. Integration fails, and an error is displayed:
Error
A variety of errors may be displayed. Some examples include:
Supported product could not be enabled
Protection Center cannot connect to the supported product host. Check the availability of the host on the network
Unknown error
Check what you have entered and try again. If the error continues check the error logs
Errors lsted in the logs:
"Additional XML content is present in the fault detail element. Only a single element is allowed."
Environment
Symantec Protection Center 2
Product that was previously integrated with an SPC appliance, such as PGP or Symantec Critical System Protection.
Cause
The integrating products are passing invalid arguments to the SPC appliance, preventing the re-integration from occuring.
Solution
There is currently no solution, other than reinstalling the product that is being integrated with. The issue has been reported to the respective teams.
