Problem
VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) 1.2.1 Hotfix 86803
Solution
Automated Install Method
After downloading the HOTFIX, perform the
following:
1. Take all service groups offline on all systems in
the cluster on which the hotfix is to be applied.
2. Double-click on VCS_86803b_hotfix_244705.exe.
All files and folders will be extracted to the specified
location.
3. Double-click on VCS86803.exe.
3. Follow on-screen instructions.
4. Upon the successful completion of the Hotfix
installation, the node will display the Shutdown Computer dialog box.
NOTE: DO NOT CLICK RESTART UNTIL ALL NODES HAVE HAD
THE HOTFIX APPLIED.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 on all systems in the cluster.
6. After the hotfix is applied to last cluster system,
restart each system in the cluster one at a time.
7. Verify all service groups are online.
8. You can configure/reconfigure your PrintShare
groups. For more information, see the README, or refer to the TechNote "How to
create a print share group after VERITAS Cluster Server Hotfix 86803 has been
applied." This document can be accessed via the link in the Related Documents
section below.
Manual Install Method
NOTE: Before installing the hotfix, you must take
all service groups offline on all systems in the cluster.
1. Download the hotfix files to a temporary location
on your cluster system.
2. Double-click on
VCS_86803b_hotfix_244705.exe. All files and folders will be extracted to
the specified location.
3. Save your current configuration.
4. Verify the cluster is in a consistent state by
typing "hasys -state" at the command prompt.
Note: All systems should be in a RUNNING
state.
5. At the command-prompt, type "hasys
-display".
Note: Make sure the value of the attribute
ConfigDiskState is CURRENT for all systems.
6. If the cluster had VCSNT HOTFIX # 121-4, 121-6, or
82163 installed, proceed to step 7. If the cluster did not have VCSNT HOTFIX #
121-4, 121-6, or 82163 installed, do the following:
a. Delete the existing PrintShare service groups.
b. Run the executable ModifyTypes.bat.
This updates the existing PrintShare and PrintSpool resource types in your
configuration file Types.cf.
7. Stop the VERITAS High Availability Daemon (had) by
typing "hastop -all" at the command prompt.
NOTE: VCS CLUSTERED APPLICATIONS AND SERVICES WILL
NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE.
8. From the downloaded hotfix files, copy the
\bin and \Templates directories at the path %VCS_HOME%\ on the
system.
The variable %VCS_HOME% is the default installation
directory for VCS, typically C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Cluster Server.
9. Stop the DiskRes driver by typing the following
command: "net stop rsrvscsi"
10. Copy the file %VCS_HOME%\bin\DiskRes\rsrvscsi.sys
to %windir%\system32\drivers. This will overwrite the previous version of the
driver.
11. Shut the system down.
12. Repeat step 8 through step 11 on all systems in
the cluster. After you have installed the hotfix on all systems, reboot them
one by one.
KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE HOTFIX: To uninstall
VCS after installing this hotfix, you must run the HFUpdate utility on all
systems that are part of a PrintShare service group. To run the utility, type
the following at the command-prompt: "HFUpdate".
You can then run the VCS uninstaller to uninstall VCS.
