Problem
The Scan Engine web interface may not be accessible when using 64-bit Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on the system
Cause
This is an expected behaviour of the product.
Scan Engine 5.x is a 32-bit only software, therefore even when installed on 64-bit Operating Systems, a 32-bit only Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is required to properly access its web admin interface.
Solution
In order to resolve this problem, please follow the steps below on the each server where Scan Engine 5.x is installed.
- Uninstall each instance of JRE installed on the server
- Obtain a JRE version compatible with Scan Engine. This can be found wither in the Scan Engine installation package, or at the Java website www.java.com.
- Ensure the JRE installed is 32-bit only.
- The Scan Engine web admin interface should now be accessible without problems.
