Problem
After upgrade or migration to Backup Exec 2012 the following error may be seen more than once if NDMP data was backed up with the previous version of Backup Exec 2010.
Error
Catalog Error - ODBC access error. Possible lost connection to database or unsuccessful access to catalog index in the database.
Solution
This issue is fixed in Backup Exec 2012 with Service Pack 1a (TECH186717)
Follow the steps below on Backup Exec server after installing SP1a:
1. Open a command prompt and navigate to the Backup Exec installation folder (X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec). Issue the command "catrebuildindex.exe -r" without the quotes and press enter. The previously backed up NDMP data should be available for restore at this point and going forward.
2. Run dbupgradebuildtobuild.sql script as suggested in www.symantec.com/docs/TECH190352
