I get the following error message running a setup on a computer, even though I am running the installation as an Adminstrator:
You do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. Please rerun this installation from an administrators account.
Microsoft Windows* 98, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista
This error can happen in a couple of different situations:
One would be trying to modify the registry with a blank value, or if you are trying to modify the registry by creating a new root. This error could also be appearing if you are trying to update an ODBC entry with a blank value or an .ini file with a blank value.
In either case, use the Display Message action to determine the exact line of code where the error occurs. Place a Display Message action after every couple of actions to determine where in the script the error is being thrown. Label the message as you insert them So it is easy to see by the message which action it follows.
Once you have narrowed down the exact line of code this is happening on, Altiris Support Services can assist in determining what the issue might be.
If you determine the error is because of a a registry key the package is attempting to update, manually try to edit the exact same key using regedit. If you cannot modify any registry key manually, your Wise product will not be able to modify the registry key either. If this is the case, you will need to change your package to place that key into a different location.
