Environment

NetBackup version 7.5

MSDP Storage Storage pools in use.

Cause

This problem is triggered by an invalid short_blk being received.  When this occurs, the bptm log will show the following:

A short_blk greater than zero will be received during fbu_check_filheader:

09:35:35.907 [6568.3760] <2>  1123532:bptm:6568:nbuhost: [DEBUG] PDSTS: fbu_check_filheader: next_streamoffset=30664, short_blk=456, buflen=976

...after which  an UNKNOWN fh_magic is recorded:

09:35:35.907 [6568.3760] <16> 1123532:bptm:6568:nbuhost: [ERROR] PDSTS: fbu_check_filheader: UNKNOWN fbu_fh->fh_magic=0x0

Finally, a software error is recorded:
