PureDisk Disk Pool will not come online due to error "25084: Initialization failed: unable to resolve hostname"

On a PureDisk or NetBackup Appliance system the disk pool fails to initialise.  


Error



Analysis of the spoold logs yields the following error:

March 17 00:00:20 ERR [1079552320]: 25084: Failed to load route at line 1 in /Storage/var/rt/27.recommended: unable to resolve puredisk-node.example.com (Host name lookup failure).

March 17 00:00:20 ERR [1079552320]: 25084: Router initialization failed: Failed to load route at line 1 in /Storage/var/rt/27.recommended: unable to resolve puredisk-node.example.com  (Host name lookup failure).

March 17 00:00:20 ERR [1079552320]: 25084: Initialization failed: unable to resolve hostname

 

 


Solution



Verify that all PureDisk nodes have the correct configuration for name resolution by using tools such as dig or nslookup.  Check DNS name server entries in /etc/resolv.conf or utilise the /etc/hosts file.  Once configuration has been confirmed it will be necessary to restart PureDisk services.
