Symantec Critical System Protection (SCSP) Agent is currently installed on Linux/Unix Operating Systems. There is a Kernel upgrade planned for these machines, and you wonder if the client should be reinstalled afterwards.
SCSP Agent installed on Linux/Unix OS.
In the case of Kernel upgrade, the recommended steps to follow are these ones:
- Confirm the new Kernel is supported
- Apply an empty/NULL IPS policy to the agent, to ensure IPS won't block any part of the Kernel upgrade process
- Upgrade the agent's Kernel
- Apply back your IPS policy to the agent
However, please note we would recommand you to test it first before implementing it in production, because we cannot be certain that this procedure would work without any problem for every OS and Kernel upgrade.
