Descriptive steps

The installation and configuration is quite simple and fast.

1) How to obtain SCSP:

a. Go to the Symantec FileConnect Web site.
b. Click your language to log on to the FileConnect system.
c. In the Serial Number box, type the serial number that is printed on your certificate or upgrade insurance notice, and then click Login.
Note: If you do not know your serial number, contact Symantec Enterprise Customer Service.
d. On the End User License Agreement Web page, click I Agree.
e. Under Products, click the product version that you want to download.
Note: You will select the specific build that you want to download on a later screen.
f. Select a download method, and then click Continue.
g. Slect the file for the build that you want to download, and then click Download.

Basic or Essential support customers in other regions
Refer to the technical support telephone number that you received when you purchased your product and maintenance contract. For a list of technical support telephone numbers in other regions, go to the Symantec Worldwide Corporate Directory Web site.

Customers without a support contract
To purchase a current version of a Symantec product, go to the Symantec PartnerNet Locator Web site to locate a Symantec Partner.

2) Installation and configuration of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition:

a. Download Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=23650

b. Run SQLEXPRWT_x64_ENU

Note: Only the key points of the installation and configuration will be shown below.

Installation Configuration - Specify the name for the instance of SQL Server (in this case SCSP):

Server Configuration - Select Automatic as startup type for the SQL Server Browser:

Database Engine Configuration - Specify Mixed Mode as authentication mode and specify the sa password:

Complete the installation.

c. Once the installation completed, open the SQL Server Configuration Manager from Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 > Configuration Tools,

Expand SQL Server Network Configuration and click on Protocols for SCSPDB and finally enable TCP/IP protocol:



Once TCP/IP protocol enabled, the restart of the services is required to apply the modification.


3) Installation of the CSP Management Server:

a. Double click the server.exe file from the installation folder or CD to start the installation,

b. Select Production Installation:

c. Specify the same sa password specified during the SQL Server installation:

Note: If the wrong instance name and/or sa password are/is entered, the error below will pop up:

d. Specify an SCSP database owner password:

Note: If the specific password lengh is not respected, the below window will show up:


Complete the installation.


4) Installation of the CSP Management Console:

a. Double click the console.exe file from the installation folder or CD to start the installation,

Complete the installation.

5) First login:

a. Click Start > Programs > Symantec Critical System Protection > Management Console.
b. In the Login window, click the green plus sign.
c. In the New Server Configuration panel, replace New Server with the name that you want to use to identify your server.
d. In the New Server Configuration panel, specify the server configuration parameters, and then click OK.
e. In the Login window, type symadmin in the User name box, select the new server that you added, and then click Login.
f. In the Verify Server Certificate panel, select Always accept this certificate, and then click OK.
g. In the Set Password panel, in the Password and Confirm Password boxes, type the password to associate with the symadmin user name, type the password again to confirm, and then click OK.
