Problem
Certain Application and Device Control (ADC) policies appears to behave differently when applied to a SEP 11.x client and a SEP 12.1 client. Affected policies concern blocking the writing of files to USB devices (thumb drives and similar).
Error
No error message present.
Environment
SEP 11.x and 12.1.x Application and Device Control (ADC) behaves differently with same policy depending on product version.
(A SEP 12.1 Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager can manage both SEP 11 and SEP 12.1 clients in the same environment.)
Cause
Solution
This problem is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 RU7 MP3. Please read Obtaining an upgrade or update for Symantec Endpoint Protection for information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection and upgrade all SEP 11 clients to the latest available release.
