When restoring an entire Virtual Machine from an Incremental, Only the Incremental VMDK file is restored

Technical Solution


When Full VMware backups are configured with GRT enabled but the incremental backup is configured with GRT dislabed, the restore of the entire VMDK from the incremental will be successful but will only restore the incremental.  The Virtual machine will fail to boot with No Operating System Found.


A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Documents at the end of this article to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.
