Problem
APP GRT(Granular Recovery Technology) Backup of a Small Business Server 2011 Hyper-v Virtual Machine using Agent for MS Virtual Server(AMVS) fails with error "A failure occurred querying the Writer status" If SBS2011domain\Administrator account is set as a System logon account.
Error
V-79-57344-65233 - Snapshot Technology: Initialization failure on: "VRTSRV::\\HYPER-V Host\Hyper-V?Virtual?Machine\Virtual". Snapshot technology used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Environment
Host - Windows 2008 R2 with Hyper-v installed
Guest virtual Machine - Small Business 2011
Cause
The domain "Administrator" account is disabled by default on SBS 2008 and 2011 for the security reasons.
Solution
To resolve this issue follow the steps listed below :
1 - Log on to the Small Business server 2011 with Secondary admin account
2 - Open Active Directory Users and Computers
3 - Click on Users group
4 - Select the Administrator account and Enable It.
5 - Move the Administrator account to the MyBusiness - Users - SBSUsers.
6 - Restart the Backup Exec Remote Agent Service.
7 - Perform the Backup.
