During online of SQL server agent for MS SQL Server 2005 and MS SQL Server 2008, the agent may log that it is unable to locate and get a value for a registry key "IgnoreMSDTCSecurity"


Error



VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 SQLServer2008:<resource_name>:online:(13) _GetDWORDValue failed. Subkey = Software\Veritas\VCS\EnterpriseAgents\SQLServer2008\__Global__, Name = IgnoreMSDTCSecurity


Environment



SFW HA and VERITAS Cluster Server


Cause



This error means the regkey indicated does not exist.


Solution



The error is benign.  If desired the message can be removed from the logs by creating the key in question and setting the value to 0 (zero).  This setting has no effect on cluster or SQL operation.
