Backups to Data Domain storage failing after NetBackup catalog recovery

Problem
Backups fail to DataDomain storage unit after disaster recovery of the NetBackup master server
Error
NetBackup error received when running command:
Install_path\Veritas\Volmgr\bin>tpconfig -update -storage_server <server> -stype DataDomain
Invalid server information for type DataDomain server <server>.
Authorization failed for OpenStorage server <server>
NetBackup OID 222 log shows "invalid arguments are passed"
DataDomain debug/ddfs.info log shows
INFO: ddfs_ost_ifgroup_get_conn: Received get ifgroup connections req
ost-<xxx.xxx.xxx.xx-64735>: plugin ERROR:
ddcl_ost_get_server_property failed unrecoverable rpc failure
Environment
Windows Server 2008 R2
NetBackup 7.1.0.3
OST plugin version 2.4.1.0-289644
DataDomain OS version 4.9.1.4.2132347
Cause
After NetBackup catalog recovery, the latest version of the OST plugin was installed on the Master server;
version 2.4.1.0-289644.
Solution
Uninstalled newer plugin, and reverted to the OST plugin 2.3.1.0-223945 that was used in the original Master server configuration prior to the server crash and rebuild.
