Drilling down into an IT Analytics report times out and fails

Problem
When drilling down into an IT Analytics report it times out and fails. However, other reports or resources on the same report can be drilled down into successfully.
Environment
IT Analytics 7.1, SP1 and SP2
Cause
This is a product defect.
The resource in question that is attempted to be drilled down into contains too many records. Those with smaller amounts work successfully.
Solution
Symantec is currently researching this issue. No known solution or workaround is available at this time.
