Issue



The User Name field under Backup Settings does not accept the period character.


Error



After entering a user name into the User Name fieild the field is marked as invalid.


Environment



SPC 2.0+


Cause



The validation for the user name field under Backup Settings includes the period character "." as an invalid character.


Solution



  1. If logged in to the SPC web console, log out and close the browser.
  2. Download the attached ISO file
  3. Attach the ISO file to the SPC virtual machine or burn the ISO to disk for physical servers.
  4. On the SPC server, not the web console, click on Install Protection Center update
  5. Click Browse and then change the Drives drop down to the CD drive
  6. Double click on fixvalidation
  7. Double click on fixvalidation.zip
  8. Click Run
  9. The process takes about a minute. The script does not report success or failure.
  10. Log back into the SPC web console and try to enter a user name with a period to confirm the fix.
