Issue

Scan Engine Version information is unavailable in Symantec AntiVirus 10.x GUI or when viewing client information in the Symantec System Center (SSC) after updating definitions to 20120515.017 and beyond. The Scan Engine Version displays as 0.0.0.0 in the Symantec AntiVirus for Linux GUI or command line.

Cause

This issue is by design.

Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.x and Symantec AntiVirus for Linux (SAVFL) are designed to display Scan Engine Version information.

In SAVCE, the Scan Engine version information that appears in the GUI and is passed to the SSC is the same and is retrieved by polling the version number from the ECMSVR32.DLL file.

In SAV for Linux, the Scan Engine version information that appears in the GUI or command line is the same and is retrieved by polling the version number from the ecsvrlin.so file

In both products, this field is designed to accept property/version information up to X.X.X.255.

Beginning with definitions of 20120515.017, the version of the ECMSVR32.DLL or ecsvrlin.so file is 121.1.0.291. This information cannot be parsed properly and the Scan Engine field remains blank or displays as 0.0.0.0.

Solution

Beginning with definitions of 20120515.017, the version of ECMSVR32.DLL or ecsvrlin.so is 121.1.0.291. This information cannot be parsed properly and the Scan Engine field remains blank or displays as 0.0.0.0.

This is a cosmetic issue only. Product functionality is not affected.
