In Application Metering Checking Executable (*.exe file usage) and Used count is zero

Issue



Creating Policy but unable to find the report for Application Metering Executable usage report

 

First create the executable usage monitoring policy

1. Go to Manage -->Policies

2. click on drop down on Software folder

Software->Application Metering-->right click on Blacklisted Applications clone

3. On the right pane under Software tab click on Add-->Rule, Enter the Definition name and File Name (file information can be found by right clicking the file and checking the properties) Click Ok.

Note: We can only Monitor *.exe files

4. Apply the Policy on the Targets

5. While checking the report the Used is showing as zero for some clients or all clients

Symantec Management Console 7.x

Application Metering


Cause



Application Metering Plugin is not installed


Solution



To check the report of the created Policy.

On Symantec Management Console go to Reports-->All reports -->Software -->Application Metering-->Executable Usage

Check the installed count and Used count. If the Used is zero for any client then please install the Application Metering Policy on that client or troubleshoot the Application Metering policy if its already installed.
