Issue

Outgoing emails might get blocked due to policy settings and different firmware behaviors if no mobile network is available.

Solution

Expected send-email behaviors on Blackberry handhelds with activated PGP Support Package.

- In case the Blackberry firmware version is 4.x/5.x/6.x, the PGP mail policy is cached but no network for key-searches is available, the send-email-process will fail.

- In case the Blackberry firmware version is 4.x/5.x/6.x and the policy cache timeout period has expired, no email can be sent from the Blackberry handheld.

- In case the Blackberry handheld firmware version 7.1, the policy is cached, the mail does not need to be encrypted and there is no network for key-searches, the email will go into the outbox for later delivery when a network is available again.

- In case the Blackberry handheld firmware version 7.1 and higher, the PGP mail policy and the recipients' keys are cached, the email will go into the outbox for later delivery when a network is available again.
