Problem



At the end of a Synthetic Incremental Backup job in Backup Exec 2012 the Backup Exec job engine service (BENGINE.EXE) may terminate in KERNEL32.DLL.

Cause



Low Virtual Memory on the Backup Exec server during Synthetic backups.


Solution



 

WORKAROUND:

Recommend to configure a Synthetic backup job to be multiple jobs to reduce amount of memory usage per job.

Increase the memory on the Backup Exec media server.

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time.
