Problem
When you perform a NetBackup for VMware backup of SQL Server, the ASC job fails with a Status 1.
Cause
The ASC job can fail when log truncation fails. For log truncation to be successful, a full backup of the database must exist.
Solution
First perform a full VMware backup without log truncation (on the VMware tab of the policy, disable the Truncate logs option). Then perform the full VMware backup with log truncation enabled. To create a full backup, you must use the Symantec VSS provider. The VMware VSS provider creates copy-only backups, which cannot be used as a basis to truncate logs.
