Problem
Incorrect license count usage for Software Management Solution shown within the Symantec Installation Manager.
Total License count of Software management solution and In use shows the same within SIM. However, Software Management plugin was installed on fewer machines than the license count showed.
Environment
Notification Server Version 7.1 SP2 Rollup V3
SQL Database Server version: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
Cause
This can happen depending on what states machine records are in.
Solution
The following process allowed the license count to be corrected:
- Ran Purging Maintainance.
- Ran AD import Task and refresh Resource Membership.
- Ran Full Inventory task and at this point the licenses were freed up.
