Unix box not showing up in the RMS console after apparent successful registration of the agent

Problem
UNIX agent appears to successfully register to RMS Console but the end messages of -
"Successfully register to
machine does not appear in scope nor is there a certificates folder created for it
Error
Microsoft JET Database engine: Syntax error in string query expression '"5.8"")'. on RMS console verbose mode bvControlScv.log file
CreatePIDFile: NO - from verbose logging on agent
Environment
Product installed on Windows 2008 Standard Server 64 bit
Cause
/etc/redhat-release edited by administrator which included " - Double quotation marks which cannot be interpreted by the product.
Solution
Workaround - edit /etc/redhat-release and either just remove the quotation marks or remove all the user added text
Do not edit OS created /etc/redhat-release file
