Problem
During upgrade of Symantec Installation Manager (SIM) from version 7.1.194 to 7.1.206, the following message appears, causing the upgrade to fail:
"Symantec Installation Manager Setup
More than one version of Symantec Installation Manager is currently installed.
Product Code 1:
'{GUID 1 HERE}' <
Product Code 2:
'{GUID 2 HERE}'
You may need to manually uninstall one of these versions for installation to complete successfully."
Error
Environment
Symantec Installation Manager 7.x
Symantec Management Platform 7.x
Cause
There is an issue with the uninstall of the previous version; Specifically the Registry Keys associated with the previous version.
Solution
Search the registry and remove the Windows Installer registry keys for previous versions of SIM
Note: It is best practice to always backup the Registry before making edits
