Not all 21 SEP cubes are available for install after upgrading to 'Altiris IT Analytics Symantec Endpoint Protection Pack 7.1 SP2'

Issue



After upgrading from a previous version of 'Altiris IT Analytics Symantec Endpoint Protection Pack 7.1 SP2' some cube names remained at the old format of 'Symantec Endpoint Protection...' rather than adopting to the new naming convention of 'SEP...'  therefore although it is showing in the available tab, but cannot be installed for processing.


Error



Cubes with previous version naming convention cannot be installed for processing.  It remains in the available tab.


Environment



Altiris IT Analytics 7.1 SP2

Altiris IT Analytics Symantec Endpoint Protection Pack 7.1 SP2

Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2


Cause



The older version of cubes were still resident in the 'string' table within the Symantec_CMDB database.  Although the upgrade process should have removed then, it didn't.

<Cube names> are referenced in the String column and StringRef column has a value of 'item.name'.


Solution



1. Uninstall 'Altiris IT Analytics Symantec Endpoint Protectin Pack 7.1 SP2' - verify folder 'ITAnalyticsSEP' and Assembly 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Altiris.ITAnalyticsSEP' are removed

2. Manually remove each of the offending cubes

3. Reinstall 'Altiris IT Analytics Symantec Endpoint Protectin Pack 7.1 SP2'
