Problem
NetBackup for Microsoft SharePoint Server backup fails with status 13.
Error
The following message will be returned via the Job Details in the Activity Monitor on the master server:
file read failed(13)
Consult the bpfis on the backend SQL server for the presence of the following:
19:08:01.278 [1040.9356] <2> onlfi_vfms_logf: INF - WRN - BEDS_Init() FS_BlowOutMachine() Failed! (0x842:The Server service is not started.)

NetBackup 7.1.x
Sharepoint 2010
Windows 2008 R2
Cause
The message about the Server service not being started can be taken at face value. Ensure that the Microsoft 'Server ' service is started on the system in question.
One can also consult the Windows System Event Log for corroboration. For example:
Wed Apr 11 2012 23:31:44 Service Control Manager I7035 The Server service was successfully sent a start control.
Wed Apr 11 2012 23:31:44 Service Control Manager I7036 The Server service entered the stopped state.
Solution
Start the Microsoft 'Server ' service is started on the system in question.
