Environment

NBU 6.5.6 master
NBU 6.5.6 AIX media server

Sending backups to Puredisk 6.6.3a 6 node VCS cluster
There was 1 SPA, and 4 MB/CRs and 1 SPARE Node

Solution

Check to see if PureDisk plugin is loaded.

# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpstsinfo –pi

The results from that command did not show the puredisk plugin.

Checked the ost-plugins folder.
# ls -l /usr/openv/lib/ost-plugins/
total 648
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root bin 299278 Jun 27 17:17 libstspipd.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 13 Jun 27 17:17 libstspipdMT.so -> lib stspipd.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root system 7268 Jun 28 10:59 <spa.local.cfg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root bin 1452 Oct 06 2011 pd.conf

On the AIX box,

# cd /usr/lib
# ls –l libxml2.a

Does that exist?

If yes, rename it.

# mv libxml2.a old_ libxml2.a

Then, run this command again to see if it brings up the puredisk plugin.

# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd.bpstsinfo -pi

If the puredisk plugin is displayed this time, then restart NBU and try the backup again.  If it is not displayed, then put the library file back in place and do the next steps.

Open a web browser, go to the 6.6.3a SPA, and download this driver.

AIX Power PC Agent v6.6.3.49048

If the AIX X64 Power PC PDDO Plugin v6.6.3.49048 plugin was installed previously, then download and install this one instead on the NetBackup 6.5.6 AIX PDDO media server.

# sh pdagent-AIX_5.3_powerpc_x64-6.6.3.49048.run

Then execute this command again to see if the PureDisk plugin is displayed.

#  /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd.bpstsinfo -pi

If it is displayed, restart NetBackup on the AIX PDDO media server, make sure the disk pool is up, then try the backup again.
