Issue

You need to install a Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client on a Windows Azure Virtual Machine Role.

Environment

Windows Azure VM Role;
Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

Solution

Windows Azure VM Roles are usually virtualized Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter edition.

It is typically recommended to use SEP's Network Threat Protection (NTP) and IPS components.  As a best practice on Windows Azure Virtual Machine Role computers, however, install the Antivirus and Antispyware module only. The Windows Azure platform already features a firewall that can be managed from the Azure management portal.

Is also advised to ensure that LiveUpdate is not downloading content while other CPU or disk-intensive activities are taking place.
