Issue

SNMP alerts generated from network devices are appearing in the Event Console by their IP address instead of their hostname. This occurs even if the network device was properly discovered and exists in the CMDB by its hostname.

Environment

  • Event Console 7.x

Cause

SNMP alerts generated from known computer resources appear by their hostname, but not network resources.

This behavior is a defect and has been submitted to development.

Solution

This issue is addressed in the 7.5 release of the product.

If this issue must be addressed in the 7.1 SP2 release, please contact Symantec Enterprise Technical Support and refer to this article.
