SQL backup jobs randomly failing. Dbbackex.exe process does not exit after failure.

After an upgrade to NetBackup 7.5 and higher, if an MS-SQL server database backup fails, the dbbackex.exe executable freezes. The next backup then fails with a VDI timeout error.
Any version of Microsoft SQL Server + NetBackup 7.5.0.x (through 126.96.36.199).
Due to a failure to correctly process a returned error when running a SQL backup, if the backup fails, dbbackex remains in memory instead of terminating, causing subsequent backups to fail with VDI timeout errors.
ETA of Fix:
The formal resolution for this issue (ETrack 2813378) is included in the following patch release(s):
NetBackup 7.5 Release Update 5 (188.8.131.52)
NetBackup Appliance 2.5.2

Since upgrading from 6.5.6 to 184.108.40.206, when running type FULL MS-SQL server database batch files, at least 1 database fails on each server when the VDI timeout is reached.
