When attempting to edit any Backup job after a upgrade to Backup Exec 2012 and error occurs unable to insert policy.
Error "Server application error - unable to insert policy"
Validation failed because of invalid encryption settings. An encryption type was specified but an encryption key was not provided.
Backup Exec 2012
Migrated Backup Exec jobs have encryption keys associated with them.
The Key Owner for the Backup Exec encryption key is disabled or no longer exists in Active Directory.
The Encryption Key in Backup Exec is a Restricted Encryption key and NOT a common Encryption key.
Enable or re-create the Key owner in Active Directory.
Restart the Backup Exec services.
Set the Key type to Common or Delete and recreate the Encryption key with type of Common.
NOTE: Before Deleting an encryption key the username and password must be documented to restore from media that was written to with the encryption key.
