Backup job of Linux machine fails with 0xe000ff11 if symbolic link file exists

The Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent for Linux or Unix Servers (RALUS) backup job fails with 0xe000ff11 if a symbolic link file exists on a Linux machine.
When getting the status of a link target, the remote agent continues to look at the same file recursively by adding '/' to its path.

 

The remote agent debug log shows as follows:

Error



0xe000ff11 - A communications failure has occurred with a Linux or Unix resource.


Solution



Disable the 'Back up contents of soft-linked directories' option.

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time.
