Issue



Hyper-V backup of a Highly Available Virtual Machine fails with communication failure error and keeps the Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) in "Backup in progress, Redirected access" status resulting next backup to fail with error "0x173d- Back up is in progress"


Error



An error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec Remote Agent on the Backup Exec server. Ensure that the job options are correct, and then submit the job again. The backup set was not created.

Final error: 0x173d - Back up is in progress. Please wait for backup completion before trying this operation again

Solution



Unlock the redirect access mode using the following command:

 

CSV volume using the cluster PowerShell cmdlet Test-ClusterResourceFailure "name of csv"
