Package Server or Task server disappears from Site Server list in Symantec Management Platform Console

Issue



In SMP Console, Site server (Task server/Package Server) disappears from the Site Servers list under Settings->Notification Server->Site Server Settings->Site Management

On Manage Computer->Site server computer, it shows Task server agent and package server installed in SMP agent description even when it is not listed in Site servers list.

Environment



Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2/SP2b


Cause



Site server gets new GUID from Notification Server due to communication issue at some point which results in removal of site server from Site Servers list.


Solution



There are multiple things can be performed towards resolution of the issue. Please follow the recommendation below one by one until the issue is resolved. You are not required to follow all steps if issue gets resolved in early steps.

1. Go to Settings->Notification Server->Site Server Settings->Site Management. Add required services (Task Server,Package Server) for affected server using following KB document:

2. Verify if there are no entries of OLD GUID or NEW GUID found in results of
"SELECT * FROM Evt_Resource_Merge" in Symantec_CMDB (Altiris Database) in SQL Server

3. Verify that HKLM>Software>Altiris>eXpress>NS  are all set to 0

4. Registered following DLLs:
..\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Client Task Agent\Client Task Agent.dll
..\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Client Task Agent\CTAgentUI.dll
..\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Client Task Server\CTServerAgent.dll
..\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Client Task Server\CTServerAgent_x64.dll

5. Uninstall and Reinstall Task Server or Package Server
- If Task server is disappearing from Site Server list.

- If package server is disappearing, from the list then remove Package server from Notification Server and add it again

6. Under Notification Server machine, Under IIS enable "Anonymous authentication" for website  Default Website->Altiris->Task management
7. Enable "ASP.net Impersonation" in IIS in NS server and site server
