Problem

If you have ITMS 7.1 SP2 installed and run Symantec Installation Manager (SIM) to install 7.1 SP2 MP1 and run the Install Readiness Checks (IRC) and then hit cancel, the Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2 will show as not install and configured.

This can also occur in previous versions where the ASDK Components were removed and then the installation process was canceled before completion.

Environment

Symantec Installation Manager (SIM)
Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2

Cause

This is caused by the ASDK Installation Readiness Check (IRC). When you select to install the new SMP version, the ASDK IRC is ran which removes the ASDK components. If you then hit cancel and stop the installation before the completion of the new installation, the ASDK components have already been removed and SIM will display the Symantec Management Platform as not installed and configured (since the ASDK) components are part of the Symantec Management Platform.

Solution

This issue has been mentioned to the Symantec Development team. However, it is not a good practice to cancel the installation process without knowing if there are pieces that needs to be reinstalled that were removed like the ASDK components.

In most cases reinstalling the ASDK components should be sufficient for getting the SMP displayed as installed and configured.
