There are some caveats to managing Android device access to Exchange ActiveSync.
The following caveats apply to Android devices and the ability to control access to Exchange ActiveSync:
- Only the Nitrodesk TouchDown email app is supported.
- TouchDown accounts must be deployed from the Mobile Management server by using a TouchDown Account profile. Manual configuration of the TouchDown app on the mobile device is not supported.
- The solution supports Exchange ActiveSync protocols only. Exchange 2003 and 2007 protocols are not supported.
- Because Exchange provides multiple methods for access, it is possible for other apps to circumvent the Exchange access control that is provided by Symantec Mobile Management. To prevent circumvention of access control, configure your environment to use only the ActiveSync protocol for communication with Exchange. How you configure your environment depends on the compliment of network access controls in your installation. Refer to the access-control vendor documentation for information to configure their components.
