After uninstalling the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) Java Remote Console, the icons still remain within the Metro UI, Apps page, and Taskbar.
Windows 8 x64
Due to a known issue with Java, the uninstall is unable to successfully remove the icons.
Correctly reset the path referenced by the Java uninstall string to be compatible with a 64-bit OS.
HKEY_USERS\<USER SID>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Remote Console
"UninstallString" = C:\Windows\syswow64\javaws.exe...
Modify only the bolded section and leave the remainder of the string unchanged. The uninstall of the SEPM Java Remote Console will now properly remove the appropriate icons.
