Error



"An unknown error occurred within the NDMP subsystem"

SGMON log shows the following errors:

BEREMOTE:  [fsys\ntfs\mnet]     - creating DLE for remote machine \\<REMOTE SERVER NAME>:ndmpport:10000
BEREMOTE:  [fsys\ntfs\mnet]     - legacy_MSNetCreateTempDLE() - Info: NetServerGetInfo() failed with error code: 53.

Using GetVersionEx() to get the server information

BEREMOTE: [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ndmp_process_messages: no more messages in stream buffer
BEREMOTE: [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ERROR: 90000 Error: unknown error
BEREMOTE: [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ndmpDestroyConnection
BESERVER:  -1 JobManager: Enumerator for \\<REMOTE SERVER NAME>:ndmpport:10000 returned: -536805702

BENETNS:  [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ndmpConnectEx : Control Connection information: A connection was established between end-points <ip address of media server>:63509 and <ip address of remote server>:10000.
BENETNS:  [ndmp\ndmpclient]    - NDMP version 3 connection CONNECTED
BENETNS:  [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ERROR: ndmpConnectClientAuth: Agent does not support SSL. Not attempting SSL connection.
BENETNS:  [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ERROR: processing message 0x103: error decoding arguments.
BENETNS:  [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ERROR: ndmpSHASetupChallenge: invalid auth_type returned for config_get_auth_attr request
BENETNS:  [ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ERROR: ndmpConnectClientAuth(NDMP_AUTH_BEWS2): error getting auth attribute
BENETNS:  [nrds]               - NewAdvertiseToMe: Authentication failure


Cause



Some third party services like 'NdmpServer Controller Service' or 'RAID-Agent Controller Service' may be listening on NDMP Port causing the browse failure.


Solution



1. Use debugging tool like WireShark tool to find any such third party service(s) listening on NDMP Port

2. Stop and\or disable any such service(s) which is listening on NDMP Port
