Exchange 2003 backup runs very slow

Problem
Exchange 2003 database backups runs very slowly. Issue comes up for both Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) and non GRT backup.
Solution
Workaround:
Run Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) enabled backup of Exchange 2003 databases. To run VSS enabled backup please select Advanced Open File Option (AOFO) in the backup job.
