File System Archiving (FSA) Agent install fails on a Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 SP1 target server

File System Archiving (FSA) Agent fails to install on a Windows Storage 2008 R2 Service Pack 1(SP1) target server.
This occurs both in a push install from the Enterprise Vault server and a local install on the File Server.
The install log shows the following error:
DIFXAPP: ERROR - The operating system you are running on is not supported. Only Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and
Windows codenamed Longhorn are supported.
Enterprise Vault Server:
Enterprise Vault 10.0 Service Pack 1
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows Storage 2008 R2 Service Pack 1
In pre EV 10.0 SP2, FSA Agent installation on Windows Server 2008 R2 may fail and result in the "DIFXAPP" error, if the Windows Application Compatibility is explicitly set to be turned off (this is turned on by default). With EV 10.0 SP2, this problem does not occur due to the new version of DIFXAPP, which does not require the Windows Application Compatibility to be turned on.
To resolve this issue, check if the Windows Application Compatibility setting is turned off in Group Policy Object (GPO). Turn off Windows Application Compatibility as follows: 1. Launch the Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe) and add the Group Policy Object snap-in 2. Browse to the Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Application Compatibility folder 3. Select "Turn Off Application Compatibility Engine" 4. Set this policy to be enabled in order to turn off Windows Application Compatibility 5. Install FSA Agent
If the FSA Agent install continues to fail and the "DIFXAPP" error persists, it is recommended to upgrade to EV 10.0 SP2. This will allow the FSA Agent to install successfully due to the new version of "DIFXAPP" which does not require Windows Application Compatibility setting to be turned on.
