Problem
Backups using the Remote Media Agent for Linux (RMALS) fail with the error listed below.
Error
An unknown error occurred on device "HP 0001".V-79-57344-34030 - An invalid command was sent to the storage device.
Environment
Red Hat 5.8 x64
HP StorageWorks Ultrium 3000 LTO5 Tape Drive
Solution
This issue is resolved by upgrading to Backup Exec 2012 and hotfix 201596 (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH201596).
