Known Issue: Variables with a value larger than 255 characters do not write to Insert Line of Text action, getting truncated

Variables with a value larger than 255 characters do not write to Insert Line of Text action, getting truncated


Error



Create install
Set Variable TEST to 100 characters (append to existing value options checked)
Set Variable TEST to 100 different characters (append to existing value)
Set Variable TEST to 100 different characters (append to existing value)
Display message %TEST%
Inset line of text into text file %TEST%

You will see that the display message holds all 300 characters, but the Insert
line of text does not and is truncated at 237 characters. 

 


Solution



The point fix has been provided, and available as an attachment here.

 

1.            Close WiseScript package editor application.
2.            Browse for: C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Wise Package Studio\WiseScript Editor\Advanced
3.            Take back up of existing WISE0132.dll
4.            Replace it with the pointfix WISE0132.dll file
