HOWTO:  Run diskStats.exe to collect data on an NTFS volume mount points.

Cause

VRAdvisor Wizard GUI does not support data collection for the volume mount points.

Solution

To collect data on an NTFS volume mount points using the diskStats command:

  1. At the command prompt, run the mountvol command: C:\mountvol to record the volume mount point's GUID, eg: \?\Volume{-GUID-}\
  2. Navigate to Veritas Volume Replicator Advisor diskStats path.
  • The diskStats.exe location for x86 and x64 are:
    • Windows x86: C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Volume Replicator Advisor\bin\
    • Windows x64: C:\Program Files (x86)\VERITAS\Volume Replicator Advisor\bin\

    3.   At the VERITAS\Volume Replicator Advisor\bin, run diskStats.exe -i 120 -c 14 \\?\Volume{-GUID-}\

  • The diskStats sample command: C:\Program Files (x86)\VERITAS\Volume Replicator Advisor\bin\diskStats.exe -i 120 -c 14 \\?\Volume{6045a06a-c8e7-470-92ac-1bde323004b}\
    4. To save the output to a file, you can redirect the output to a named file using the command below:
  • The diskStas Sample command: C:\Program Files (x86)\VERITAS\Volume Replicator Advisor\bin\diskStats.exe -i 120 -c 14 \\?\Volume{6045a06a-c8e7-470-92ac-1bde323004b}\ >"C:\diskStats"
    5. This should now start collecting data for analysis.

Sample diskStats Command for the data to be collected "14 Days" with "120 Seconds" Interval.
