All DS Tasks fail post ITMS 7.1 SP2 MP1 upgrade

Problem
After upgrading to MP1 (from ITMS 7.1 SP2) all DS tasks fail. All other tasks work fine. This includes tasks like "updateSBSinfo" tasks.
Error
In the logs, you'll see the tasks being put to sleep.
Cause
If the site servers are not updated to the latest Task Server agents, this will occur to any clients connected to them. Post MP1 upgrade, the NS and DS components are upgraded, but the site servers are unable to handle the requests. The NS knows this, so the tasks keep getting put to sleep.
Solution
Enabling the site server upgrade policy for Task Services and then running the upgrade on the site servers resolves the problem.
