Problem
After installing the Device Control Management Server, the following error is displayed, "cannot create virtual directories."
Cause
This is more than likely occurring because virtual directories from a previous server installation are still present in the Internet information services (IIS). This can be confirmed by checking to see if Symantec Endpoint Encryption Device Control virtual directories appear in IIS.
Solution
To remove virtual directories, open the IIS console. If present, remove the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Device Control and Symantec Endpoint Encryption Device ControlWS virtual directories. Reinstall the Device Control Management Server after you have removed the directories.
