Remote Client Install Error "Failed to install: \\XC2098 (50): Service: Error opening Service Manager"

While trying a Remote Client Install through the Ghost Console you receive the error: " Failed to install: \\XC2098 (50): Service: Error opening Service Manager"

Failed to install: \\XC2098 (50): Service: Error opening Service Manager


Cause



The reason for the error is because there are identical users and passwords on both Console and Client machines that are joined to a Domain.  This causes a credentials conflict when trying to install the Client across the network.  This is considered a Security feature or design by Microsoft.  You should also get this error if you try to use the computer management mmc plug-in to remotely connect to the Client from your Console machine.
 


Solution



The solution is to create a new Local Administrator Account on the Console machine, then log into the Console machine with that new account and then you will be able to complete the Remote Client Install.
