Problem

Unable to install HP-UX agent for 64 bit hosts.
Tried 10.50.16.tar and 10.50.33.tar agent

swinstall -s /tmp/bvinstall bvControl

Error

Error : Could not apply the software selection "bvcontrol" because there are no product variations that are compatible with the destination host (s).
Software selection failed for "HOSTNAME:/tmp/bvinstall".
Error: No software has been selected.
Error: Cannot continue the "swinstall" task.
Selection had errors.

Environment

HP-UX agent for 64 bit hosts (not - Itanium)

Cause

Make sure the customer is not using the Itanium agent.

The agent located in the HP-UX-ia64-64
folder is for HP-UX Itanium hosts ONLY;

ex.

HP-UX-ia64-64/bvControl-10.50-33.tgz

Solution

Make sure the customer is not using the Itanium agent.

The agent located in the HP-UX-ia64-64
folder is for HP-UX Itanium hosts ONLY;

ex.

HP-UX-ia64-64/bvControl-10.50-33.tgz

HP-UX-pa-risc-32/bv-Control.10.50.33.tgz

Use the HP-UX PA RISC agent for all other HP-UX agent installs;

ex.
