Unable to uninstall / remove App Center client from Android device

Problem
When attempting to choose Force stop or Uninstall for the App Center client app on an Android device, these options are grayed out / disabled.
Environment
- Symantec App Center (all versions)
Cause
These options are disabled by design if Mobile Device Management (MDM) is enabled and applied to the device (e.g. The device's associated user is a member of a group which has an MDM policy applied to it).
Solution
If a Force stop or Uninstall action must be performed on the device, the App Center client's device administrator privilege must be removed:
Note: The steps for this example are applicable to an Android 4.0.4 device
- On the Android device, access: Settings > Security > Device administration > Device administrators
- Disable the checkbox for the App Center client
Note: If performing a Force stop, it is likely that the Device administrator should be re-enabled afterwards
