Problem
The error “VixDiskLib_Read() reported the error: You have requested access to an area of the virtual disk that is out of bounds” is intermittently reported during VMware backups.
Error
V-79-57344-38264 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib.
VixDiskLib_Read() reported the error: You have requested access to an area of the virtual disk that is out of bounds.
Cause
This was caused by an incorrect partition allocation. The partition size in a disk was larger than the disk size.
Solution
To recover incorrect partition allocation, create new partition in new disk then copy data to the new partition.
